Flying Eagles-eligible winger Tyrique George played for two Chelsea youth teams in the space of twenty four hours.

The talented player was given minutes off the bench as Chelsea's development team fell to a narrow 3-2 defeat in a Premier League 2 fixture away to their Norwich City counterparts on Friday, August 25.

George replaced Zain Silcott-Duberry in the 65th minute as Chelsea searched for an equaliser and a minute after Ronnie Stutter netted the game's fifth goal.

The following day, Nigerian football tactician Hassan Sulaiman named George in the starting lineup as Chelsea registered an emphatic 5-1 win over Aston Villa in an U18 Premier League match staged at the Bodymoor Heath Training Ground.

Other players with a Nigerian background involved in the fixture include Chelsea's Academy Scholar of the Year for the 2022-2023 season, Somto Boniface who played the full game and Kelechi Chibueze who entered the game as a substitute in the 64th minute.

George broke the deadlock in the sixth minute when he finished expertly following a counter-attack.

The 17-year-old made way for Frankie Runham just before the hour mark with the scoreboard reading 4-0 in favour of Chelsea.

George joined Chelsea at U8 level and signed his first professional contract in February 2023.
