Exclusive: Olarenwaju Kayode Misses Rennes Deal
Published: April 21, 2013
French club Rennes have given up on signing Nigeria youth international Olarenwaju Kayode after reports emerged that he had a valid contract with Asec Mimosas, allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report.
Rennes had concluded plans of inviting the 19 - year - old striker for trials just before the start of the African Youth Championship but later made a u-turn.
''I have lost my contacts in Ukraine and France because of Kayode. Based on what Kayode told me, he said he was a free agent and I passed the same information to Rennes.
''Asec Mimosas contacted Rennes to inform them the player's contract has not expired. So the proposed trial was called off.
''Kayode must improve his attitude if he wants to achieve his true potential before it's too late.
''I know he is in the Under 20 squad because coach John Obuh is relying on him as per his previous records with the youth teams,'' a top Nigerian agent who pleaded for anonymity told allnigeriasoccer.com.
For the past seven months, Olarenwaju Kayode has been globetrotting looking for a new team despite being under contract with Asec Mimosas.
The search took him to Tunisia (Etoile Sahel), England (Charlton Athletic) and Belarus (Dinamo Minsk). And as they say, the rest is history.
