Osimhen sets record in Galatasaray's comprehensive win against Fenerbahce

Victor Osimhen achieved a notable milestone during Galatasaray's convincing 3-0 victory over Fenerbahçe in an Intercontinental Derby clash at Rams Park on Sunday evening.

Making his first start since recovering from an injury that sidelined him for five weeks, the Nigeria international broke the deadlock five minutes before halftime.

Osimhen brought the ball under control with his chest and finished instinctively with his knee, but saw a second half effort ruled out for offside just seven minutes after the restart.

One of the designated penalty takers for the Lion, the Super Eagles star allowed Barış Alper Yılmaz to double the lead from the spot in the 67th minute, before former Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira added further gloss to the scoreline with seven minutes remaining.

According to the football statisticians at Whoscored, Osimhen had eight attempts from inside the box against Fenerbahce, a record in a single Super Lig game this season.

The Nigerian also demonstrated his aerial ability, winning a game-high five aerial duels.

Of his eight attempts from inside the box, three were on target, while only Leroy Sané bettered his tally of three key passes.

This season, Osimhen has 20 goals and seven assists in 31 appearances across all competitions.
