2020 Golden Boy: Arsenal's Nigeria-Eligible Winger Saka Features Among Top 20 Candidates

Arsenal's Nigeria-eligible winger Bukayo Saka features among the top 20 candidates for the prestigious 2020 Golden Boy, awarded by Tuttosport to the best footballer under the age of 21 representing a European top-flight team.

At just 19 years of age, Saka made his full debut for England in a friendly vs Wales on October 8 but remains eligible to represent the Super Eagles for the time being as he wasn't involved in the two UEFA Nations League matches against Belgium and Denmark.

Saka faces competition from fellow Premier League young stars Fabio Silva (Wolves), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Mason Greenwood (Manchester United), Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea) and Ferran Torres (Manchester City), and the likes of Barcelona's Ansu Fati, Bayern's Alphonso Davies, Rennes' Eduardo Camavinga, Real Madrid's Vinicius Jnr and Borussia Dortmund's Erling Braut Haaland in his bid to win the 18th edition of the Golden Boy award.

Bayern Munich's Joshua Zirkzee and Red Bull Salzburg's Karim Adeyemi made the 60-man shortlist but have since been omitted from the list of final contenders for the award.

Saka has attracted plaudits since breaking into the Arsenal first team and has appeared in 47 matches since his debut, scoring five goals with twelve assists to go with it.

No player of Nigerian descent has won the Golden Boy since the inception of the award in 2003.
