Speaking at Thursday's official pre-match press conference, Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr strongly hinted that he is opting for a two-man attack in the opening 2022 World Cup qualifier against Liberia at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
The German football tactician named some interesting attacking options on his roster for the World Cup qualifiers including Victor Osimhen, Kelechi Iheanacho, Paul Onuachu and Terem Moffi.
Rohr has explained why the Napoli and Leicester City strikers will start ahead of the Racing Genk goal machine, who has not really earned the trust of the coach despite finding the net in his last two competitive matches for the national team.
Brila FM presenter Ogechukwukanmawes Ogwo quizzed the Super Eagles coach about the possibility of pairing Onuachu and Osimhen in attack versus Liberia.
Responding, Rohr stated : "You know that we played with Onuachu in the end of the game in Republic of Benin, he scored a decisive goal and we are able to play with two center forwards.
"If you play with Osimhen and Kelechi we have two center forwards, offensively, and also Kelechi is able to turn around or to come from behind, which is already something we did a lot together.
"Onuachu is still trying to come in our system, he's a different player like Iheanacho.
"It is good to have one left-footed player and one right-footed player in the attack and the combination is good between Kelechi and Osimhen.
"But Onuachu is here, he arrived late, he only arrived yesterday because he had some traveling problems but I count on him if we need him for the second part of the game".
Onuachu has ten appearances to his name for the Super Eagles, with five as a starter.
