Frank Onyeka has capped a remarkable loan spell with Coventry City by playing a key role in the club’s EFL Championship title triumph.
The Super Eagles midfielder was in action for 65 minutes as Coventry City sealed the title with a commanding 5-1 victory over Portsmouth on Tuesday, a result that confirmed their position at the top of the table.
Following their impressive victory over Portsmouth, no Championship side can now reach Coventry’s tally of 89 points.
Haji Wright and Ephron Mason-Clark capitalised on defensive errors, with Regan Poole's misfortune leading to an own goal as Coventry surged into a three-goal lead within 50 minutes.
After Adrian Segečić pulled one back for the visitors, Mason-Clark soon restored Coventry’s three-goal advantage, while Kesler-Hayden rounded off the scoring in stoppage time.
Onyeka, who joined Coventry from Brentford in the winter transfer window, quickly became an important figure in Frank Lampard’s midfield, bringing energy, defensive discipline, and Premier League experience to a side pushing for promotion and silverware.
His performances in important victories and hard-fought draws helped the team maintain momentum as rivals attempted to close the gap.
The Championship triumph also marks a historic moment for Coventry City, who have enjoyed a rapid rise under Lampard, culminating in both promotion and league success.
