Valencia striker Umar Sadiq has emerged as the most prolific winter signing in this season’s La Liga, enjoying a strong resurgence since his permanent move to Los Che from Real Sociedad in January, according to Cadena COPE statistician Pedro Martín.
Among all mid-season arrivals, only Atletico Madrid forward Ademola Lookman boasts a superior goals-per-minute ratio than Sadiq.
While Lookman has registered two goals in nine La Liga appearances, Sadiq has scored four in 17 matches.
The former African Footballer of the Year is finding the net once every 208 minutes in the Spanish top flight, marginally better than his compatriot's rate of 211 minutes per goal.
In the winter signing scoring charts, Sadiq leads the way alongside Getafe's Martín Satriano, while Luis Vázquez has three goals.
Sevilla's Neal Maupay, Valencia's Guido Rodríguez and Lookman have each scored twice.
Sadiq's contributions have been particularly significant for Valencia, who were just five points above the relegation zone at the end of January.
Los Che could now move within touching distance of a UEFA Conference League place should they defeat Rayo Vallecano at home on Thursday, with other results also going their way.
Since leaving Real Sociedad, the 29-year-old Sadiq has directly participated in seven La Liga goals for Valencia, scoring four and providing three assists.
