'A player I look up to is Nichols' - Arsenal defender says he admires Super Eagles-eligible fullback

Versatile Arsenal defender Abraham Owusu-Gyasi has revealed his admiration for Super Eagles-eligible fullback Josh Nichols, describing the young defender as a major influence on his development.

Born in London, Nichols is eligible to represent Jamaica and Nigeria through his father and mother respectively.

He has frequently trained with Arsenal’s senior squad and is widely regarded as one of the club’s most promising young fullbacks.

The 19-year-old has travelled with the first team on each of the last two pre-season tours and has received five call-ups for official matches.

Nichols made his senior debut in September 2024, featuring in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup victory over Bolton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium.

Owusu-Gyasi praised both Nichols’ on-field quality and his valuable support away from the pitch.

Owusu-Gyasi highlighted both Nichols' quality on the pitch and his support off it.

"A player I look up to is Josh Nichols. I really admire the way he plays, he’s top quality,” Owusu-Gyasi said to Arsenal's official webpage

"He gives me loads of advice, his journey is inspiring because he's played for the first team, and off the pitch we're close and have great conversations."

Nichols has been on the books of Arsenal since the age of nine and signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2024.
