'A starter in the PL for years' - Besiktas president delighted with signing of Leicester old boy Ndidi

Speaking at a press conference following the close of the summer transfer window in Turkey, Besiktas president Serdal Adali expressed his delight at the signing of Wilfred Ndidi, hailing the 28-year-old for his experience and pedigree.

Adali confirmed that The Black Eagles parted ways with twenty-five players in the recently concluded transfer window, while bringing in twelve new players, including the Nigeria international.

Ndidi put pen to paper on a three-year contract, with a club option for the 2028-2029 season.

The Nigerian was widely regarded as one of the top defensive midfielders in the Premier League during his time with Leicester City.

He appeared in 220 matches in the English top-flight, registering twenty-one goal involvements (7 goals, 14 assists).

Adali stressed that Ndidi's experience and proven quality would bring balance to the Istanbul club's midfield.

In quotes relayed by Turkish sports daily Fanatik, he said: "In addition to the Orkun transfer, we strengthened our midfield with the addition of 28-year-old Ndidi, a player who has been a starter in the Premier League for years.

"We placed our faith in Demir Ege and Kartal Kayra in midfield. We signed them to new three-year contracts."

With his vast Premier League experience and reputation as one of Africa's most reliable midfielders, Besiktas believe Ndidi has all the tools to make an immediate impact in Istanbul.

However, the Super Eagles star has been left out of Besiktas travelling squad to face Goztepe as he is still recovering from the injury he picked up on international duty in a World Cup qualifier against South Africa on September 9.
