OGC Nice players wore the names of Terem Moffi and Jeremie Boga on their jerseys for their Ligue 1 match against Angers, according to a report by L'Equipe.
The initiative came as both forwards remain on sick leave following a violent attack by their own fans after last week’s match in Lorient, which ended in a 3-1 defeat for Nice.
Each Nice player kept their usual squad number while wearing the name of either Moffi or Boga on their back.
The gesture was intended to show support for the two teammates who were absent from the pitch and had been targeted by supporters before to the Lorient match.
The team’s decision to display the names of Moffi and Boga ensured their presence was symbolically represented on the field despite their absence.
Sunday’s fixture against Angers featured every player on the pitch wearing either Moffi’s or Boga’s name, highlighting a distinctive gesture by the OGC Nice squad in support of their sidelined teammates.
Terem Moffi has also been named in Eric Chelle’s 54-man provisional roster for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations schedule for Morocco.
