The Super Eagles maintained their flawless campaign in the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday, securing a 2-0 victory over Algeria in the quarter-final clash.

The win ensures Nigeria’s progression to the semi-finals, keeping alive their quest for a fourth continental title.

In a disciplined display, Nigeria controlled the match from the outset, creating multiple chances and converting their opportunities efficiently.

Algeria struggled to break down the Nigerian defence, with their attacks repeatedly intercepted by the Super Eagles’ backline.

Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams were central to Nigeria’s attacking efforts.

Osimhen opened the scoring shortly after the start of the second half, converting a precise delivery from Bruno Onyemaechi to give Nigeria a 1-0 advantage.

The Super Eagles continued to press forward, and in the 57th minute, Akor Adams doubled the lead after a well-timed pass from Osimhen, lifting the ball over the Algerian goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

Algeria attempted to respond with efforts from Baghdad Bounedjah, Mohamed Amoura, and Adil Boulbina, but Nigeria’s defence and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali ensured a clean sheet.

Several substitutions were made by both sides as the match progressed, with Nigeria’s tactical changes helping to maintain control and see out the victory.

With this win, Nigeria sets up a semi-final encounter against hosts Morocco on Wednesday, January 14, at the ongoing tournament.
