Everton coach Carlo Ancelotti has said that Alex Iwobi is brimming with confidence ahead of his side's Carabao Cup quarterfinal clash against Manchester United at Goodison Park.
Given the quality of the opposition and their star-studded bench, everything points to the fact that the Italian football tactician will field a strong starting lineup, meaning the Nigeria international is in contention to start.
Iwobi has started each of the last six matches contested by the Toffees in the Premier League, something he had not previously managed for the club since transferring from Arsenal in the summer of 2019.
The former Arsenal winger cemented his place in the starting XI after catching the eye playing as a makeshift wing-back in the win at Fulham in November.
In his programme notes for the clash against the Red Devils, Ancelotti stated : "Alex Iwobi had his chance for our match at Fulham and since then has stayed in the line-up.
"He can feel the belief of his manager and teammates and his confidence is high.
"This is Alex’s best period in my year at the Club and now there is the opportunity for him to keep getting better."
Iwobi was in the Arsenal side beaten by Manchester City in the final of the Carabao Cup in February 2018.
