Arsenal and Celtic legend Charlie Nicholas has named Joe Aribo as his Player of the Year in the Scottish Professional Football League for 2021.
In his column in the Daily Express, Nicholas picked his Team of the Year and named the Super Eagles midfielder as the standout player.
"I am not surprised the Nigeria international is starting to attract interest from the English Premier League.
"He has grown into a player with a real responsibility in this Rangers squad," Nicholas was quoted as saying by Scottish Sun.
The Team of the Year is dominated by Celtic who have contributed six players followed by Rangers and Hearts with two each , while Hibernian has one representative in the Best XI.
2021 Super Eagles invitee Calvin Bassey was a shock inclusion in Nicholas's Team of the Year.
Explaining why the Nigerian was selected, Nicholas wrote : "This selection might surprise a few people but I like balance at the heart of my defence and Bassey, with his very good left foot, would provide that alongside Souttar.
"The young Rangers stopper is a big, physical unit and dominant in the air. I think he has been better than Connor Goldson."
Aribo has scored six goals and assisted three others in 20 outings in the Premiership so far this season while Bassey has recorded fourteen appearances in the division - all of them starts.
