Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira was on media duties on Friday before Crystal Palace's opening Premier League match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Palace have been busy in the summer transfer window, bringing in Marc Guehi, Joachim Andersen, Remi Matthews, Jacob Montes, Conor Gallagher and Michael Olise to bolster the squad.
Vieira has confirmed that 2021 Super Eagles invitee Olise is not in contention to make his Premier League debut this weekend due to fitness issues and is likely to miss two further top-flight matches with Brentford and West Ham United.
The Anglo-French-Nigerian attacking midfielder has been struggling to overcome a back injury since his arrival at the Eagles.
Another Nigeria Football Federation target who is sidelined and won't be available for selection to face The Blues is Eberechi Eze as he is still recovering from a long-term injury sustained towards the end of last season.
Providing a fitness update, Vieira said to Palace's official website : "We all know about the long-term injuries. So far everybody is feeling good and is ready to start the season.
"We’re going to do our last training this afternoon and he [Joachim Andersen] will be part of the squad for the first game.
"Michael Olise is feeling better and in the next two weeks will be starting work on the field".
Michael Olise was at the Chelsea academy before joining Reading on schoolboy terms in 2016.
