Besiktas knock back Ajax Amsterdam's loan with option to buy bid for Super Eagles captain Ndidi

Turkish giants Beşiktaş have turned down a proposal from Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam for the signing of Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi during the winter transfer window.

The Nigerian midfielder was previously offered to Manchester United, but the Premier League side did not follow up their interest.

According to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, Ajax submitted an offer to sign Ndidi on loan with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

However, Beşiktaş rejected the proposal, insisting on keeping the midfielder for the remainder of the campaign, due to his importance to the squad.

The 29-year-old has been a key figure for the Turkish side since his arrival, making 15 league appearances and scoring once.

His influence has also been recognised internally, with Ndidi handed a leadership role as one of the club’s captains.

Nath Boys product Ndidi spent eight years at Leicester City before transferring to Besiktas last summer.

He returned to action on Saturday as Besiktas defeated Koyaspor in the Super Lig, after sustaining a hamstring injury during Nigeria’s 2–0 victory over Algeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
