Frank Onyeka was on target for Brentford in a behind-closed-doors win against Wolfsburg on Saturday, amid speculation linking him with a departure from the Gtech Community Stadium before the close of the summer transfer window.
After the eight-goal thriller between Brentford and Wolfsburg on Friday, the following day, both teams faced off again at the Robert Rowan Performance Centre, with two different XIs fielded.
Early in the game, Brentford took the lead as Ryan Trevitt’s cross found Lewis-Potter at the far post, where he headed the ball over the Wolfsburg goalkeeper.
With fifteen minutes to go, Onyeka doubled the Bees advantage when he tapped the ball into the back of the net after he was fed by Iwan Morgan, before Jonas Wind pulled one back for the Bundesliga side.
With exception of Brentford's clash versus Primeira Liga side Estrela da Amadora on July 30, Onyeka was involved in all the games played by the Londoners in pre-season, which indicates that he has not been declared surplus to requirements ahead of the new season.
Although Onyeka was on Africa Cup of Nations duty during January and February, he managed to appear in twenty-eight games across all competitions last season, including thirteen starts.
The FC Ebedei product extended his contract with the Bees last August, keeping him at the Gtech Community Stadium until the summer of 2027 with a club option for the 2027-2028 season.
