Former Scotland centre-back Rachel Corsie has offered her assessment of the controversial incident involving Brentford forward Dango Ouattara and Fulham defender Calvin Bassey during their goalless Premier League encounter at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The flashpoint occurred during a physical exchange between both players, in which Ouattara appeared to pull the hair of the Nigerian defender.
Despite the incident, the referee allowed play to continue without awarding any disciplinary sanction.
Neither a yellow nor red card was issued to the Brentford forward, and the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) also chose not to intervene or recommend a review.
Speaking during a Premier League Productions analysis segment, as monitored by allnigeriasoccer.com, Corsie suggested the contact was not as clear-cut as it initially appeared.
βThis one, his hand is open for me there. I think there is no more space and slaps him lately across the back of his head. That is an unusual one, it is not that clear. I don't think it is quite a hair pull,β Corsie stated.
Despite the contentious moment, Bassey delivered a composed defensive performance throughout the derby to help Fulham secure a valuable point.
He won three aerial duels, completed 38 accurate passes, made two recoveries, and registered one clearance.
His contribution proved important as Fulham continue their push for a European qualification spot at the end of the season.
