Leon Balogun will have to wait to play his first game under new Glasgow Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The Dutch football tactician confirmed at the pre-match press conference that the Nigeria international will not be named in the traveling squad to France for the Europa League meeting with Lyon.
Balogun was originally thought to be in contention to make his comeback from injury against the Ligue 1 side having reportedly resumed training with the Rangers squad at the start of this week.
The central defender has been inactive for the Light Blues since he was replaced with ten minutes to go against Hibernian in the Premier Sports Cup on November 21.
Speaking to reporters at the presser, Van Bronckhorst said : "Regarding the team news Leon Balogun cannot travel this afternoon.
"We still have a training left, so far we have everyone on board but we just have to wait after this training before I can announce my squad."
Another Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey has been acting as cover for Balogun in the last four matches played by Rangers, helping the Ibrox side post three shutouts.
Prior to his spell on the sidelines, the Super Eagle had made 18 appearances in all competitions - all of which he started.
