Celtic to hold end-of-season talks over the future of Super Eagles striker at Parkhead

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho is approaching a crucial moment in his Celtic career, with end-of-season talks set to determine whether the striker will remain at Parkhead beyond this summer, according to a report by Football Insider.

The 29-year-old’s contract is set to expire this summer, but the Glasgow giants hold the option to extend it for an additional year.

Sources have confirmed that discussions over his future are scheduled to take place once the Scottish Premiership title race concludes.

Iheanacho joined Celtic as a free agent last summer, bringing experience from his time at Manchester City.

Injuries, however, have disrupted his first season in Scottish football, restricting him to just five league appearances.

His last start came in the Premier Sports Cup final against St Mirren on 14 December, where a hamstring injury forced him off after only 35 minutes.

Since that setback, Iheanacho has been steadily recovering. He made brief cameo appearances for manager Martin O’Neill in matches against Utrecht and Falkirk but missed the squads for fixtures against Livingston and Kilmarnock FC.

Celtic shared images on Instagram of Iheanacho in full training ahead of the clash with Kilmarnock, highlighting his progress as he nears a return.

O’Neill, who returned to the dugout as interim manager in early January, has had limited opportunities to call on the striker.

Iheanacho’s return would provide the team with an additional attacking option as they approach the crucial stages of the season.

Celtic are set to give Iheanacho until the end of the campaign to make an impact.

The upcoming talks will decide whether the club exercises its option to extend his contract, potentially keeping the Nigerian international at Celtic Park for another year.

The stage is set for Iheanacho to prove his fitness and form, with the end-of-season discussions likely to shape the next chapter of his career in Scottish football.
