Chelsea are close to signing another defender, with Metropolitan Police youngster Renedi Masampu impressing the decision makers at Stamford Bridge during trials.

Chelsea Youth‏ claims The Blues have had a look at the young left-back over the summer and he stands a decent chance of earning a contract.

Masampu assisted The Met U18s squad win the Ryman Youth League, Surrey U18 County Cup and Ryman Youth League Champion of Champions last season.

He capped off a fine season by winning the Youth Team Players’ Player of the Season award.

Chelsea talent hunters monitored the performances of Masampu for three months before he was invited to train with the club.
