Youngsters Chido Obi of Manchester United and Josh Ajala of West Ham United have been shortlisted for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for February following a string of impressive performances for their respective clubs.
Obi earned his nomination after a remarkable run of form for Manchester United’s youth side before suffering a serious injury during their clash against Chelsea.
The teenage striker scored four goals in three matches during the month, with all four coming in a commanding 4–1 victory over Leicester City.
His goalscoring exploits helped the Red Devils record wins over West Bromwich Albion and Leicester, while also securing a draw against Derby County.
The forward has been in prolific form throughout the campaign, registering nine goals in 15 league appearances as Manchester United continue their push for a strong finish in the Premier League 2 standings.
Meanwhile, Ajala has enjoyed an equally productive February for West Ham United’s development squad.
The 19-year-old attacker featured in four matches, scoring twice and providing three assists.
He found the net in the thrilling 3–3 draw against Middlesbrough and also scored in the Hammers’ 3–1 victory over Leeds United.
The youngster has now recorded five goals and three assists in 10 Premier League 2 appearances this season.
His impressive displays have already been rewarded by West Ham with a new contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2028.
Obi and Ajala will compete for the monthly honour alongside Tommy Setford and Brayden Clarke of Arsenal, Rio Kyerematen of Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Matty Warhurst and Kian Noble of Manchester City, and Regan Clayton of West Ham United.
