Galatasaray's vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu has revealed that the sporting director of Arsenal, Andrea Berta, was left surprised by the financial figures involved in the transfer of Victor Osimhen.
After a breakout season on loan from Napoli, the Turkish Super Lig champions acquired the former African Footballer of the Year on a permanent deal last summer, despite the striker being on the radar of Premier League and Saudi clubs.
Osimhen brought his five-year spell at Napoli to an end after Galatasaray activated his €75 million release clause.
The 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup winner will earn a guaranteed annual salary of €15 million, alongside a net loyalty bonus of €1 million per season and an additional €5 million per year from image rights.
With Osimhen signing a four-year contract, Galatasaray’s total financial commitment to secure his return to Istanbul is projected to reach approximately €159 million over the duration of the deal.
Speaking about the Nigerian striker's value to the Turkish giants, Kavukcu insisted he would not consider selling Osimhen even for a massive fee of 150 million euros.
"I wouldn't sell him for 150 million euros, but it's a matter for our president to decide," Kavukcu said to HT Spor, via habersarikirmizi.com.
" When you sell him, you also need to find a replacement player. That's very important.
"The Arsenal sporting director came here recently and even he was surprised that we were paying these amounts.
"Their budget is 800 million euros. We will have a budget of 500 million euros this year.”
Abdullah Kavukcu also highlighted the commercial impact Osimhen has had on Galatasaray since his arrival, revealing that the Super Eagles star continues to generate significant revenue off the pitch.
"Osimhen will continue. We expect to generate approximately 22 million euros from it.
"We also have three advertising deals with Victor. We receive 2 million euros from each of them for advertising shoots. We collect 6 million euros from this.
"The Osimhen transfer has added a lot to us; we have reaped the rewards of our ambition."
