Super Eagles duo Samuel Chukwueze and Alex Iwobi delivered standout performances on Tuesday night as Fulham mounted a spirited comeback before eventually losing 5–4 to Manchester City in an electrifying Premier League clash.
Manchester City stormed into a commanding 5–1 lead early in the second half, but Fulham refused to go down without a fight, thanks largely to the brilliance of their Nigerian stars.
Iwobi sparked the resurgence in the 57th minute, firing a precise strike from the edge of the box into the bottom corner, leaving Gianluigi Donnarumma with no chance.
Chukwueze then took centre stage, scoring a six-minute brace to send Craven Cottage into a frenzy.
The 26-year-old grabbed his first goal for Fulham in the 72nd minute, drilling a left-footed effort into the bottom corner.
He doubled his tally six minutes later, smashing home a superb volley after Manchester City failed to clear a corner delivery.
Their explosive performances will no doubt impress Eric Chelle, who listed both players in his provisional squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Despite Fulham's dramatic late push and the relentless backing of the Craven Cottage faithful, Manchester City held their nerve to secure the win.
The Citizens weathered the pressure in the closing stages and sealed a result that not only keeps them firmly in pursuit of league leaders Arsenal but also stands as the highest-scoring Premier League match of the season so far.
