Club Brugge striker Emmanuel Dennis has revealed the truth behind his failed move to Premier League new boys West Brom in the recently concluded transfer window.
The Nigeria international has said that the Baggies' attempt to bring him to The Hawthorns fell through when he was not issued a work permit.
Dennis wasn't eligible to play in the Premier League as he didn't feature in 75 percent of national team matches over the previous twenty four months and West Brom were not prepared to sign him permanently.
"Even with the coronavirus, I could have made a transfer. Certainly, I wanted to leave, but I did not get a work permit. It was a loan with an option to buy," Dennis said to Het Nieuwsblad via Walfoot.
"The problem was it was a loan and then the clause in the contract was that they would only buy me if they stayed in the Premier League this season.
"But honestly I didn't really care. . I am focused on Club Brugge now."
Emmanuel Dennis started for Club Brugge in their ongoing UEFA Champions League meeting with Zenit St. Petersburg.
