Club Brugge turn down Wolfsburg's final N33b bid for Super Eagles midfielder Onyedika

Raphael Onyedika is set to remain at Club Brugge after the Belgian club turned down a late offer from German Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg.

According to transfer market expert Sacha Tavolieri, internal discussions were held on Sunday, with all parties agreeing to reconvene during the summer to arrange a potential departure under the best possible conditions.

Club Brugge reportedly rejected a final bid from Wolfsburg valued at close to €20 million (approximately N33 billion in Nigerian currency), including bonuses.

The decision ensures that Onyedika will continue to feature for the Belgian champions for the remainder of the season, maintaining his key role in the midfield.

The 24-year-old Nigerian international, who starred at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, has previously been linked with several European clubs.

Eintracht Frankfurt showed strong interest in Onyedika last summer, and Wolfsburg’s late push represented the latest Bundesliga opportunity for the midfielder.

Despite these advances, Club Brugge opted to delay any transfer until the summer, ensuring the move would occur under optimal conditions.

Onyedika joined Club Brugge from Danish side FC Midtjylland in 2022 and has since made 168 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing five assists.

His performances in domestic and European competitions have made him a standout performer and one of the most highly regarded young midfielders in Belgium.

By turning down Wolfsburg’s offer, Club Brugge retains their influential midfielder for the remainder of the season while planning a transfer strategy that reflects Onyedika’s value.

Discussions are expected to resume in the summer transfer window, when a move can be structured to benefit both the player and the club.

For now, Onyedika remains focused on Club Brugge, where he is expected to continue driving the team’s domestic and continental campaigns before a potential summer transfer materializes.
