Championship outfit Birmingham City have pulled off a transfer coup by signing Arsenal academy product Chuks Aneke.
The onetime Nigeria Football Federation target, who was heavily courted by manager Samson Siasia to play for the Super Eagles, was linked with a plethora of clubs in the English second-tier but it's the Blues that have won the race for his signature.
Aneke is joining Birmingham City as a free agent after turning down a new contract at Charlton Athletic, whom he has represented for the last two years.
The London-born striker has agreed a two-year deal with Birmingham City and will officially complete his transfer on July 1, after the end of his contract at Charlton Athletic.
Aneke is excited to reunite with Blues manager Lee Bowyer who coached him for two years at The Addicks.
"I am delighted to finally get it over the line. It’s a big Club and a big challenge, I’m definitely looking forward to it," Aneke told the official website of Birmingham City.
“It’s a massive Club and it’s in the Championship – that’s where I want to be. I want to test myself in the Championship and my old [Head] Coach is here, so it lined up and I am ready to go."
Aneke is the third player to be signed under the tenure of Bowyer, after Ryan Woods and Jordan Graham.
