The Mozambican national team have received a fitness boost ahead of their round of 16 clash against Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
According to the latest medical bulletin, defender Diogo Calila has been declared fit and is available for selection by head coach Chiquinho Conde for tonight's encounter in Fès.
Calila's recovery has been described as remarkably swift. During the end-of-year break, the player travelled to Porto, Portugal, where he underwent advanced medical treatment.
Speaking on Sunday, Mambas team doctor Mussa Calú confirmed that the intervention proved highly effective, allowing the defender to resume physical activity without complications.
Calila returned to full training on Sunday afternoon, placing him in contention for a place in the matchday squad against the Super Eagles.
In contrast, it is less encouraging for Edmilson Dove and Nené. Both players sustained injuries during Mozambique's last group match against Cameroon and have not recovered in time for the knockout fixture.
Nené remains under treatment and observation, with medical staff opting for caution despite signs of progress.
He did not participate in the most recent training session to avoid aggravating his condition.
Edmilson Dove has been ruled out entirely after examinations revealed damage to the external collateral ligament and external meniscus of his left knee, rendering him unfit for competition.
