Confirmed: Nigerian midfielder leaves Slavia Prague after three and a half years of service

Promising Nigerian attacking midfielder Victor Boluwatife Ogungbayi is leaving Slavia Prague after three and a half years of service, the Czech Chance Liga giants officially announced on Thursday, February 12.

The 21-year-old has completed a move to Czech top flight club FK Mladá Boleslav, with Slavia Prague inserting a buy back clause, allowing them to resign him in the future.

Ogungbayi joined Slavia Prague in the summer of 2022, starting in the U19 team, where he made a remarkable impact by scoring ten goals in seven matches.

In the summer of 2023, he had trained with Slavia Prague's first team but continued playing mainly for the B team.

He made his debut for Slavia's first team in the Europa League preliminary round in August 2023 and later appeared for the first time in the Chance Liga in September.

In the 2023–24 season, Ogungbayi played predominantly for Slavia's B team, contributing thirteen goals in twenty-two matches and helping the team gain promotion to the second tier.

His momentum was interrupted by a serious knee injury at the end of the spring season in 2024, requiring surgery on the lateral and cruciate ligaments.

Despite this, Slavia recognized his potential by extending his contract until June 2028,

Ogungbayi  has already scored twice in his first two matches for FK Mladá Boleslav's B team.
