Reiss Russell-Denny has taken to social media to announce he has signed a new contract with English Premier League side Chelsea.
The 17-year-old has put pen to paper on his first professional contract with Chelsea.
Russell-Denny started the 2023-2024 season as a second year scholar having signed a scholarship before the start of last season.
As per Premier League rules, all players in their U17 year are required to start the season on a scholarship agreement, before they are permitted to sign a first professional football contract on or after their 17th birthday.
Russell-Denny has been described by Chelsea's official website as a deep-lying central midfielder who is skilled in taking quality free-kicks and corners.
The Blues have shown their faith in the midfielder by offering him a new contract as he battled injury across the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 seasons.
Born in Reading, Russell-Denny joined Chelsea at U8 level, rising through the ranks before making his competitive debut for the U18 team in his final season as a schoolboy.
Overall, he has appeared in sixteen matches in the U18 Premier League, two in the Premier League 2 and one in the EFL Trophy.
He has been named in the England U18 squad for friendlies against Belgium, Morocco and Korea Republic this month.
