With a statement on the official website, French Ligue 1 side Olympique de Marseille have announced the signing of Arsenal midfielder on the radar of Eric Chelle, Ethan Nwaneri, on loan for the second half of the 2025-2026 season.
Born in London, Nwaneri has represented England at various youth levels.
Despite his appearances for England’s youth teams, he remains eligible to play for the Super Eagles, as he has yet to make a senior appearance for the Three Lions.
Ethan Nwaneri is a product of Arsenal’s Hale End Academy, where he progressed through the club’s youth system.
His development at Arsenal’s academy has been closely followed by national team scouts and observers.
Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle is reportedly monitoring Nwaneri with a view to a potential call-up should he decide to switch his international allegiance from England to Nigeria.
The loan agreement with Marseille covers the remainder of the 2025-2026 season.
During this period, Nwaneri will be registered with the Ligue 1 side and will be available for selection throughout the season.
The move is expected to give Nwaneri more playing time, as he has struggled for minutes this season in the Premier League with Arsenal.
