Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi delivered a memorable performance for Beşiktaş, scoring his second goal of the season in a commanding 4-0 Turkish Süper Lig victory over Goztepe SK while paying tribute to his late father with a military-style salute celebration.

The breakthrough came early in the match when Beşiktaş won a free-kick following sustained pressure.

Orkun Kökçü stepped up to take the set piece, and after his curling effort struck the post and rebounded out for a corner, Kökçü quickly reset the attack.

His delivery from the left flank found Ndidi, who timed his leap perfectly at the near post to head the ball past the goalkeeper, igniting celebrations among home supporters.

Ndidi’s celebration carried emotional significance. After scoring, he raised his hand in a military-style salute, honouring his late father, a retired soldier who recently passed away.

The midfielder had travelled back to Nigeria to attend funeral arrangements and missed two league fixtures before returning to Istanbul to rejoin Beşiktaş training.

The goal marked Ndidi’s second strike of the season in Beşiktaş colours, following his earlier goal in a 2-0 away win against Konyaspor. 

Supporters inside the stadium reacted warmly to the moment, offering a standing ovation as Ndidi continued his celebration near the touchline.

Beşiktaş maintained control of the game to secure the comfortable league victory as they continue their pursuit of higher positions in the Süper Lig standings.
