England Boss Southgate Runs The Rule Over Three Players Of Nigerian Descent At U17 Euros

England senior team coach Gareth Southgate was among the spectators at the Walsall FC Stadium on Monday afternoon as England beat Italy 2-1 in their second match of the ongoing UEFA U17 European Championships.

Chelsea whizkid Faustino Anjorin has yet to feature for the world champions in the  tournament and it has now come to light that the attacking midfielder is struggling to overcome an injury.

Chelsea Youth has tweeted that the Young Lions number ten is nursing a slight injury and should be good to go for the knockout rounds at the latest, if England get there.

In Monday's fixture against Italy, Anjorin was omitted from the official team-sheet.

Like in the first game against Israel, manager Steve Cooper named Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Xavier Amaechi, and Manchester City U18 captain Nathaneal Ogbeta in the starting line-up and the trio played the entirety of the game.

Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun and West Ham defender Ajibola Alese were non-playing substitutes for this one.

Riccardi had given Italy a first-half advantage before England struck twice in six second-half minutes through Appiah and Doyle.
