Former Glasgow Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday is of the opinion that Aston Villa new boss Steven Gerrard could make moves for Joe Aribo and three other Glasgow Rangers stars Connor Goldson, Glen Kamara and Ryan Kent.
Given that the Super Eagles midfielder will enter the final eighteen months of his contract with Rangers in January, the Scottish Premiership champions would have no choice but to sell him to one of his suitors in the coming months if he does not sign a new contract.
Aribo has already been linked with a transfer to the
Premier League, with Crystal Palace mentioned as a possible
destination, and Aston Villa are being tipped to join the queue for his services following the appointment of Gerrard as manager.
The 25-year-old, who was playing in the English third-tier two years ago, emerged as a key player under Gerrard, scoring 20 goals in 113 appearances while providing eighteen assists.
"Connor Goldson - everyone has been speaking about his contract situation. We all know how much he loves Glen Kamara, Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo," Halliday told Open Goal via The Scottish Sun.
"I wouldn’t be surprised if he went in for one or two of them.
"At the end of the day, he used to go on about how valuable they were. He knows they have a price to pay.
"If he wants them, he has to pay a hefty price."
Though Aribo is an established Nigeria international, he will count
as a homegrown player should he move to the Premier League as he had
his footballing education in England.
