A terrific performance earned Glasgow Rangers an extraordinary 4-2 win over the team second in the German Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund in a Europa League knockout playoff tie at Signal Iduna Park on Thursday evening.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst named two Nigerians in his starting lineup with Joe Aribo in the middle of the park and Calvin Bassey deployed as a central defender.
The Light Blues deservedly took the lead when Tavernier converted a penalty in the 38th minute after Zagadou had handled the ball in the area and three minutes later the visitors were two goals up with Aribo providing the assist.
Tavernier's outswinging corner was nodded on by the excellent Nigerian midfielder and Morelos tapped in at the back post.
A fabulous start to the second half saw Lundstram increase Rangers lead with a superb strike from outside the area.
Jude Bellingham thought he had dragged Dortmund into the tie when he got on the scoreboard with a left-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area in the 51st minute, only for an own goal from Zagadou to restore Rangers' three-goal advantage.
Aribo was involved in the build-up to Rangers fourth goal, feeding Morelos who finished well but off a deflection in the 54th minute.
Raphaël Guerreiro gave Dortmund a lifeline when he reduced the deficit with a long-range strike, leaving goalkeeper McGregor rooted to the spot with eight minutes to play.
Former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey came on for Aribo in the 86th minute while Bassey went the distance.
