Eze becomes second former Super Eagles invitee to score a PL hat-trick for Arsenal

Eberechi Eze became the second former Super Eagles invitee to score a Premier League hat-trick for Arsenal, after his treble inspired the Gunners to a 4-1 triumph over north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

According to Arsenal's official website, only 23 players have managed to score three goals in a single Premier League game for the club, with two former Super Eagles invitees Nwankwo Kanu and Eberechi Eze making the list.

Retired Togo international of Nigerian descent, Emmanuel Adebayor, also features on the prestigious list, having scored three Premier League hat-tricks for Arsenal.

He is bettered only by club legends Thierry Henry, who recorded eight, and Ian Wright, who notched five.

On October 23, 1999, Kanu famously scored a hat-trick in the last 15 minutes as Arsenal came from two goals down to defeat Chelsea 3-2 at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal's other 18 Premier League hat-trick scorers include Robin van Persie, Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez, Kevin Campbell, Nicolas Anelka, Andrey Arshavin, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Dennis Bergkamp, Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud, Freddie Ljungberg, Eddie Nketiah, Marc Overmars, Ray Parlour, Jermaine Pennant, Robert Pires, Aaron Ramsey and Sylvain Wiltord.

Eze was invited to train with the Super Eagles in 2017 ahead of a friendly against Burkina Faso that was cancelled.
