Leicester City will be without Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo for their FA Cup tie against Southampton at St Mary's on Saturday, with the Nigerian international unable to face his parent club.
According to Football Association rules, a loan player is ineligible to feature in an FA Cup match against their parent club, and the EFL handbook mirrors this restriction.
As a result, Aribo was omitted from Leicester City’s 4-3 defeat to Southampton on Tuesday and remains ineligible to face the Saints again tomorrow.
The Charlton Athletic academy graduate joined Leicester during the January transfer window in search of regular playing time and made his debut for the Foxes in a 2-1 loss to Birmingham City on February 7.
King is optimistic about the midfielder regaining match fitness and making an impact after the two games against Southampton.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, he stated: "Joe's situation is probably a little bit different, in terms of he has been playing for Southampton a little bit more regularly.
"Obviously he’s had this week where he couldn’t play in the two Southampton games, so hopefully by the time the cup game’s over, he’ll have had a week where he’s had minutes against Birmingham and now he’ll be up to speed as well."
