Danish champions FC Midtjylland are sweating on the fitness of Frank Onyeka before their UEFA Champions League meeting with Atalanta at the MCH Arena, Herning on Wednesday night.
The central midfielder was not selected in the matchday squad as the Wolves defeated Odense Boldklub 3-1 on Saturday.
According to Tipsbladet, Onyeka missed the game against OB because he suffered an injury while on international duty with the Nigeria squad but manager Priske is hoping to have him ready against Atalanta.
On his debut for the Super Eagles against Algeria, the FC Ebedei product was in action for the entirety of the first half before making way for Mikel Agu and he wasn't involved in the last friendly with Tunisia about a week ago.
Onyeka proved his worth as FC Midtjylland qualified for the group stage of the Champions League for the first time in their history, with a goal and assist in four matches in the qualifying rounds.
The 22-year-old has clocked up 11 appearances for FC Midtjylland in European competitions since he debuted against FC Astana on July 24, 2018.
The Superliga side will do also do battle with former champions Liverpool and Ajax Amsterdam in Group D.
