Former Chelsea schoolboy Michael Olise expressed his delight after scoring his first goal as a professional in Reading's 2-0 win against Barnsley at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
With fourteen minutes left on the clock, the 18-year-old Olise fired home a sensational left-footed volley from 25 yards out to give the Royals a 2-0 lead.
The left-footed midfielder was in action for 1,901 minutes spread across thirty matches in all competitions before scoring his first goal in Reading colours.
"It dropped to the edge of the box...I thought I might have a go, get a shot off. And luckily it went in," Olise explained to Reading's official website.
"It was a good team performance though – we dug in, we worked hard and got the result.
"We’ve had four games now – we were unlucky against Luton in the cup but we’ve got back-to-back wins in the league.
"It’s been a good start in the league and as a group we’re happy. But we’re just going to keep playing and see where we can go. Two wins from two is good momentum going into the next couple."
A France U18 international also eligible for Nigeria, Olise made his first team debut for Reading against Leeds United in March 2019.
