Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta promoted talented Nigerian defender Josh Ogunnaike to first-team training on Monday, on the eve of his side's UEFA Champions League semi-final second-leg clash with Atletico Madrid, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Spaniard closely monitored the Hale End Academy graduate during the session at Sobha Realty Training Centre in London Colney.
Ogunnaike, 18, has trained regularly with the senior squad in recent weeks, with Dutch full-back Jurriën Timber still sidelined by a groin injury.
However, the teenage left-back is yet to receive a first-team call-up.
Given the magnitude of Tuesday's clash at the Emirates Stadium, a place in the matchday squad is unlikely.
Meanwhile, the Atletico Madrid squad has arrived in London, with winter signing Ademola Lookman included in the travelling party by manager Diego Simeone.
London holds a special place in Lookman's heart as it is the city where the Charlton Athletic academy product was born and raised.
Having failed to score in six previous appearances against Arsenal, the former African Footballer of the Year will be eager to open his account against his hometown club.
Should he find the net against the Gunners, Lookman would follow in the footsteps of Obafemi Martins, who scored against AC Milan in a UEFA Champions League semifinal second leg in 2003.
