Former Chelsea striker backs Boniface to bounce back at Werder Bremen despite slow start

Former Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro has expressed confidence that Victor Boniface will soon return to his best despite a challenging start to the season at Werder Bremen.

Pizarro, a club legend at Werder, believes the Nigerian forward only needs his first goal to spark a turnaround in form.

Boniface, who joined Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen after a failed switch to AC Milan, has yet to score in nine league matches, though he has registered two assists.

His lack of goals has raised questions about his fitness and readiness to perform consistently at the highest level.

Nevertheless, Pizarro urged the 24-year-old to remain committed and focused as he works to regain confidence and rhythm in front of goal.

"He's going through a tough time at the moment, but he simply has to keep working to show his quality again," Pizarro emphasized to Deichstube.

Pizarro believes that the first goal will be crucial in helping him to regain his confidence and momentum.

"Hopefully, he'll finally get his career going at Werder; that would be very important for both sides," he added.

"Once the goal opens for him, hopefully many more goals will follow."

Boniface reportedly used the international break to work on his fitness in hopes of returning sharper and more decisive in the final third.

With competition increasing ahead of AFCON, the striker will be eager to rediscover the form that made him one of the most exciting young forwards in his debut season in Germany.
