Goalkeeper assists Tunde Shoretire score Man Utd Youth's first goal in MICFootball Tournament
Tunde Shoretire helped Manchester United register a convincing 5-0
win over CEF Gironès-Sàbat in their opening game of the MICFootball
Tournament in Spain on Wednesday.
Tunde is the
younger brother of the current Manchester United Young Player of the
Year Shola Shoretire and is also an attack-minded player.
The Mediterranean
International Cup is one of the most prestigious youth football
tournaments in the world and prior to this edition it was last held in
2019 because of the global pandemic.
The
Red Devils have sent a strong U12 team to compete in the
tournament with Tunde Shoretire and Cristiano Ronaldo among the
eye-catching names.
Wearing
the number 9 jersey, Tunde pounced on a long ball from the goalkeeper
in the third minute, outpaced his marker before finishing with his left
foot and opened the scoring in the process.
United's other scorers were Edson Dejonge-Seiros, Joseph O'Cearuill, Eddie Wright and Ronaldo.
Manchester United first teamers Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood are some of the elite players who played in the Mediterranean International Cup in their formative years as footballers.
Tunde's brother, Shola Shoretire represented Manchester United in the 2018 edition of the MICFootball Tournament.
