'Very good today' - Robinson lauds Aberdeen's game-winner Aremu after 51st-second goal

Former Flying Eagles midfielder Afeez Aremu scored the game-winning goal after fifty one seconds as Aberdeen defeated Kilmarnock 1-0 at Pittodrie on Saturday, a victory that all but guarantees the Dons' safety from relegation.

Aremu transferred to Aberdeen in the winter transfer market, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract to end his association with German outfit FC Kaiserslautern.

Making only his sixth appearance in red, the Nigerian struck early in the first half with a composed finish that ultimately proved enough on a tense afternoon.

The goal, which took a slight deflection on its way into the bottom corner, capped a bright start for the Dons and set the tone for a disciplined performance.

Reflecting on his side's performance, Robinson singled out Aremu for praise and expressed satisfaction with his team's strong start.

"We got off to a great start with the goal. It was a superb touch from Stuart," he told Aberdeen's official website

"Jack did well to hold it up from the throw, and it was a really, really composed finish. Until he tired, I thought Afeez was very good today."

With only a handful of matches remaining in the 2025-2026 Premiership season, Aberdeen are eight points clear of Kilmarnock in the relegation playoff spot.
