In his last interview with the Super Eagles Media Team before Tuesday evening's friendly against Cameroon, APOEL Nicosia goalkeeper Francis Uzoho played dumb when informed that he was going to start the game against the five-time African champions.
Manager Gernot Rohr informed pre-match that Uzoho will make his first-ever appearance against the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations hosts - a decision that sees Sparta Rotterdam youngster Maduka Okoye drop to the bench.
"If I get the opportunity to start I'm prepared like always, I have been training with the team and I have been training well as well," Uzoho said.
"I think if I get the opportunity tomorrow I'll try my best."
A regular invitee to the Nigeria squad when fit, Uzoho included himself, Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidozie Awaziem as he discussed the players that make the Super Eagles camp lively.
"Whenever the camp is filled with the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Awaziem and myself it is always lively so it's been fun all through," the former Deportivo de La Coruña glovesman said.
Uzoho concluded by sending a message to the Super Eagles fans, vowing to perform to the level expected against the Indomitable Lions.
"They should expect my best like I always give whenever I get the opportunity to play, so that's the same thing they should expect from me, nothing else just my best."
In the recently concluded season, Uzoho kept seven clean sheets while conceding thirteen goals in 18 league appearances for APOEL Nicosia.
