Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Wilfred Ndidi requires surgery on an adductor injury and the Nigeria international could spend up to twelve weeks on the sidelines.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported on Tuesday, that
the holding midfielder has been playing through the pain barrier
since the start of the season and aggravated the injury during Sunday's
4-2 win against Burnley.
"That (surgery) will take probably place tomorrow morning. It’s just unfortunate, it’s come right off the bone, so he’s going to be up to 12 weeks we think. He’s a huge player for us," Rodgers said at Friday's press conference.
"It’s something that showed his mentality against Burnley [because] he felt it. Towards the end of last season, he felt some pain there and he felt it late on in the Burnley game.
"I’m sure he’ll make a really good recovery and we’ll welcome him back when he comes back, but there’s no doubt he’s a miss."
Either Papy Mendy or Hamza Choudhury could step in for the injured Ndidi in the holding midfield position, while center back Jonny Evans is once again available for selection after serving a suspension carried over from 2019-20.
