Skillful Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha has admitted that the presence of Eberechi Eze on the pitch has helped him to flourish in the ongoing season.
Indeed, the former Queens Park Rangers star has taken some of the attention off the Ivory Coast international as he now concentrates on scoring goals rather than dictating play.
The stats back up Zaha's claims with a hand in 9 goals (7 goals, 2 assists) from eleven league matches, something he had not previously managed at this stage of the season in his entire professional career.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, Zaha said : "100% [he helps my game]. I’m not having to drop deep and dribble as much.
"I’ve taken that role of playing up-front now, so I don’t have to dribble as much and I just get into the right positions. So him being a dribbler helps me."
On the advice he had given the Anglo-Nigerian, the Palace number 11 added : "I speak to him all the time – the way he plays and his dribbling is like looking at myself when I was younger.
"When we’re on the pitch I always tell him: ‘efficiency. Everything else doesn’t matter. You’re good enough to do these things, you’re good enough to go past players, you’re good enough to dribble past players. All you need is efficiency.’ And it seems like he’s taking it in."
Eze and Zaha started together again as Crystal Palace were forced to a 1-1 draw by West Ham in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
