Retired Nigeria international Jonathan Akpoborie has backed Victor Osimhen to thrive in Germany amid recent speculation linking the striker with a move to Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich.
Akpoborie is Nigeria's highest scorer and record appearance maker in the Bundesliga with 61 goals in 144 outings for Hansa Rostock, VfB Stuttgart and VfL Wolfsburg.
It has been claimed that Bayern Munich are considering signing Osimhen as a potential replacement for England captain Harry Kane, who has been linked with a return to the Premier League, as well as interest from Barcelona and clubs in Saudi Arabia.
The Super Eagles striker began his professional career at VfL Wolfsburg, where, as a teenager, he struggled to make an impact, failing to score in 14 Bundesliga appearances.
Osimhen's remarkable performances at Galatasaray have once again made him a target for Europe's top teams.
Reacting to Osimhen's links with Bayern Munich, Akpoborie said on The Play Zone podcast : "He's doing fantastically well at Galatasaray. He developed in Germany and must have learnt a little bit of German.
"He knows the culture from Wolfsburg so it will be very easy for him to fit in,"
When asked which current Nigerian player he would compare himself to, Akpoborie answered: "Without all the drama that he does on the pitch, which he doesn't really need, it is Victor Osimhen".
Osimhen has been in prolific form this season, netting 17 times in 25 games, with seven strikes coming in the Champions League.
