Manchester United are the latest top six side held to a draw by West Brom, after Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool, after they shared the points with the Baggies at The Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon.
Semi Ajayi started and went the distance for the nineteenth consecutive game in the English Premier League.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær's side made it tough for themselves after conceding in the 83rd second, Mbaye Diagne managing to head home from Conor Gallagher's ball over the top, but the visitors replied through a brilliant Bruno Fernandes volley on the stroke of half time.
Though there were no goals to report in the second half, it was packed full of incident and talking points.
Manchester United were awarded a penalty in the 64th minute after Ajayi was adjudged to have fouled Harry Maguire but referee Craig Pawson changed his mind after viewing the screen.
The Nigeria international had his arms on the United captain but it was not enough to bring down the central defender.
Manchester United legend Owen Hargreaves thinks that the referee should not have given the penalty in the first place as Maguire was offside when Fernandes whipped in the free-kick.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Hargreaves stated : "He's offside Maguire, when you get caught wrong side it's always a penalty, he gives it and then in the end they go to the VAR.
"Do they give offside or do they give it for the penalty but I thought that was offside. He goes to the monitor and then overturns the decision.
"I thought there was enough contact to still make it a foul".
Maguire was so close to a winner in the 95th minute but saw his header come off the post while Diagne missed two glorious chances to make it 2-1.
