Former Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell has highlighted Samuel Chukwueze’s growing importance to Fulham.
The Nigeria international has enjoyed a record-breaking start to life in the Premier League, producing five goal involvements in just 229 minutes across seven appearances prior to the London derby against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
His return represents the best minutes-per-goal contribution in the competition’s history for any player with a minimum of 200 minutes played.
"He's been brilliant. He brings that intensity, creativity, guile which is what this Fulham team needs," Sidwell told Sky Sport.
"He gets in behind, runs off the shoulder and is clever. He gets in real good positions and isn't happy playing the safe ball."
Chukweze have been included in Eric Chelle’s 54-man provisional roster for the Africa Cup of Nations, which is scheduled to take place later this month in Morocco.
His performances in the Premier League this season have contributed directly to Fulham’s attacking output.
His ability to get into key positions and contribute to goals has been highlighted by Sidwell.
Fulham’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday saw the former Villarreal player continue to play a central role in the team's attacking efforts.
