Through their official website, Western Conference team Minnesota United have announced their roster update following the conclusion of the 2021 Major League Soccer season.
The Loons have confirmed that they have declined contract options for seven players including 2016 Super Eagles invitee Fanendo Adi.
Adi is eligible for free agency taking into account that he is more than 24 years old and has been playing in Major League Soccer for more than five years.
The 31-year-old put pen to paper on a one-year contract with Minnesota United in August, with a one-year option which has not been exercised.
The former FC Copenhagen star is the top scoring Nigerian player in the history of Major League
Soccer with 56 goals in 160 appearances combined for four different clubs, sixteen more than ex-Seattle Sounders hero Obafemi Martins.
Adi began his MLS career at Portland Timbers followed by spells at FC Cincinnati, Columbus Crew and Minnesota United.
Apart from the aforementioned teams, Adi lists AS Trencin,
Metalurg Donetsk, SK Tavriya Simferopol and Dynamo Kiev as his previous
employers.
