Skillful CSKA Moscow winger Chidera Ejuke has confirmed that Dutch giants Feyenoord missed out on his signature before he sealed a transfer to the Russian Premier League in the summer transfer window.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported six months ago that Feyenoord held preliminary talks with the player's camp to find out SC Heerenveen's asking price and it is believed they were priced out of a deal with CSKA Moscow eventually paying roughly 12 million euros for the winger.
On Wednesday, Ejuke returned to the Netherlands and started against his previous suitor, who beat CSKA Moscow 3-1 in the Europa League after scoring three goals in the space of nine minutes in the second half.
"I don't know exactly what happened, but I know they (Feyenoord) were interested. Now I play for CSKA, that's the most important thing," Ejuke said to FOX Sports.
SC Heerenveen have been doing well without one of their standout performers of last season Ejuke and it's something that pleases the Super Eagles star.
"I follow them on Instagram, I watch their games. I am still looking at them and they've been doing really good this season.
"I think it is a positive for them," he added.
The 22-year-old Ejuke enjoyed a breakout season in the Eredivisie and
TOTO KNVB beker, scoring 10 goals in total in both competitions while
producing six assists in 29 appearances.
